Re: CNC12 v5.30 Mill, Lathe, Router and Plasma has been released. 3-7-25
we are close to implementing a Wizard UI page that helps with copying over cnc config from the old cnc12 install to the new one.
over the years its been a calculation of resources.
"would you like these new CNC features and these bugs fixes? -or- would you like some sort of update tool that ...

Re: Z-Axis Brake with Clearpath Hard Stop Homing
Are you using the program in Centroid's tech bulletin to do hard stop homing? It looks like homing should only start after the first enable signal from the controller after everything is powered up. Centroid's preferred configuration can be found here: https://www.centroidcnc.com/dealersupport/tech ...

Re: Z-Axis Brake with Clearpath Hard Stop Homing
The brake should normally be released any time the axis is powered, i.e., as soon as the controller is powered on and a control signal is sent to the motors, applied again in an E-stop condition, and released again upon subsequent axis movement. The axis doesn't have to move for the brake to be ...

Re: WMPG-6 High CPU Resources on MPGClient.exe
Looks like the WMPG-6 is a WixHC unit that shows up as a generic HID-compliant vendor-defined device in Windows. It shouldn't need its own separate drivers, or consume a lot of CPU absent a whole ton of activity. I wonder if you have noise/interference at 433MHz? Or maybe batteries in the MPG are ...

N150 PassMark is 1911, which exceeds the required 1500 and is pretty common in really low end NUC-type devices. If it does end up a hardware problem, this NUC has dual Ethernet, Windows 11 preinstalled, and an i3-1220P with a PassMark of 3300 for $250: https://a.co/d/9IsRJXu

Re: Centroid CNC Software Licensing Upgrade Announcement
I like the new pricing option, if new functions are something worth for your work pay for them, if not enjoy bugfixes for free.
Uwe
That's not a bad way to look at it, as long as big fixes don't get stuck in higher level releases only (e.g., a bug introduced in 5.2 should be fixed in a ...

Re: Choosing the correct VFD
Yaskawa, Hitachi, and Delta are all good brands, while some "store brands" like Automation Direct's DuraPulse have also been good. Check out, for example:

Re: New Build AcornSix
You can use any value here that's a whole number higher than 1600. Per Centroid 1600 is the absolute minimum to use with Acorn. I find that 3200 is a good mix of speed and 3D performance. You can use 6400 if you like but speed will suffer. You can use 1600 but the resolution will suffer. It really ...

Re: New Build AcornSix
Set the motors and Acorn at a MINIMUM of 3200 for the steps. The motors can run up to 6400 steps/rev despite being 800 in the specs. There is no "one size fits all" for all the motor programming. The Teknic manual covers all the MSP software settings. It also covers the auto tune procedure that ...

Re: Can I Run Two Servo Motors On a Single Axis In a Non-Synchronous Manner?
I like the second solution CNCSNW proposed due in part to its relative simplicity. If he currently has 10 feet of travel on the X axis and wants 20 including moving the bed, he may be able to simply double the number of steps per revolution for X and U axes and supply the same signal to both, making ...
