DOA!!! Not a Happy Bunny < bricked firmware? Resolved>
Hi all
My Acorn arrived yesterday and i set up to do the bench test
I became concerned as soon as I pluged in the ethernet cable, no conection lights on the socket.
Tride cycling the power supply, no change.
Lights on the board all as shold be but no hertbeat on the acorn or beaglebone
Computer all set up and ethernet on the correct address but nothimg on the port when scanned with ip scanner, wouldnt realy have expected anything with no lights.
I have even tried testing the beagle board communication , afer unplugging it from Acorn board to prevent problems, using usb. Powers up but no communication!!
I used proper static precaution throughout.
Please help
Possibly re flash the beagle board with the appropriats immage??
John

Re: DOA!!! Not a Happy Bunny
Getting a DOA is very unlikely. All the boards are tested before dispatch. Do you have another machine to try on? If the board powers, everything should be good.
Does it ever start Centroid App and try firmware or does it never connect at all?
Disabled firewalls etc?
Did you use the PC Tuner app to setup the PC? Might be worth trying that if you dont have another PC to try.

Re: DOA!!! Not a Happy Bunny
Have done all that.
Tried a diferent pc on win10
Doess not connect at all
Thiere is just no heartbeat or comms, so not much chance anything will connect.
Thats whyy I mentioned re flash the beagle if possible??

Re: DOA!!! Not a Happy Bunny
There is a 'howto' somewhere on the site / forums on how to flash the Beagle Bone. Might be worth a try.

Re: DOA!!! Not a Happy Bunny
Here is the page on our website for "debricking" the BBG: https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... icker.html
If the BBG seems to be the issue you can get a replacement BBG, flash the firmware onto it, and give it a try.
As a last resort we do offer an Acorn swapout program where you send us yours and we'll send you a replacement for $199.

Re: DOA!!! Not a Happy Bunny
Does the Beagle Bone have a heartbeat if removed from the Centroid board and powered via the mini USB?

Re: DOA!!! Not a Happy Bunny
All Acorn boards are fully tested and results logged before they ship. Sounds like you might have pulled the power while the firmware was installing on the BBG. Not to worry you can fix the firmware, here is how: follow the debricking procedure and video found here.

Re: DOA!!! Not a Happy Bunny < bricked firmware?>
Hi All
OK I have now resolved the issues.
I had to purchase a new BBG and then flash it etc. The supplied one was definately DOA!
There is a possibility that the root cause of my problems come from Windows11 which realy does not want to play ball with this BBG system.
There is a real issue here going forward in that Win10 is ending support soon and folks will all be pushed intlo 11 only.
The only way I could do all the steps sucsesfully is with Windows10.
I think ther should be a prominent caution in all the setup info, and on the forum not to try using Win11.
I think there may be a posibility tha Win11 will work with the main software once everything has been setup in 10??
It's not been a good experianc so far but lets hop the future working with the system will be good
I hope some of my comments will be helpfull to others.
