Had to put this down a long while to cool off and then life got in the way with Pandemic.
Given how simple it was for me to quantify the kinematic error, I’m not sure that compensating for it would be that terribly difficult. After all, there was a cheap Mach3 plugin for it.
In any event, I’d be ...

Re: Probing direction error compensation
At this point, I am confident that kinematic compensation would be appropriate in this case and am moving on with my project as I can do it a different way (probe one direction only and rotate the rotary). Ultimately I would like compensation to be added, as it's easy enough to manually orient probe ...

Re: Installed 4.20.1 MPG issue?
Dunno about the OP, but I had and was working. Only thing changed was upgrade from 4.18 to 4.20.1. Input from the Enable switch toggles reliably, but MPG locks if I unplug the probe, which is a different input, regardless of whether Enable switch is on or off. Can only move in x1 on the MPG ...

Re: Probing direction error compensation
FWIW, I just finished running those ~7500 points and will now start doing analysis. ~140 points per run at 0.050" stepover, 10 times for spindle/probe position, rotated 90 degrees.
Since I have the programs to look into error written, I'm curious how Centroid's new probe does with it. Hopefully ...

Re: Probing direction error compensation
Sorry, reply above was inappropriate. The assumption of not knowing what you're doing is commonplace on hobby-target forums, and that is not the case with me. BTDT, know what I'm talking about.

Re: Probing direction error compensation
The new Centroid KP-3 being currently tested, should be much better than the Drew probe, and other low cost Kinematic probes.
Just be patient while we get through testing....

Long term though, probe compensation would be the ideal solution since this one repeats so well provided ...

Re: Installed 4.20.1 MPG issue?
Sounds like what I’ve been seeing since upgrading. Probe Enable switch/input is ignored, thereby blocking the MPG in x10 and x100 if I unplug the probe. Have confirmed the input for the enable switch responds (doing the Alt-I thing). Had been working in 4.18. Am now on 4.20.1. Will post report in a ...

Re: Probing direction error compensation
Ah, seems I had a pic of how well it repeats on the other computer. This is 3 runs of Wall Following. Green circle is nominal, two red circles max/min. In a single orientation, it's good to ~0.001 and simply needs kinematic compensation.
