Getting 5v supply

Hi, sorry if this is a silly question. I understand that I need to connect a DB25 terminal block to the acorn board to connect my stepper drivers. However I am a bit confused when it comes to the 5v supply for the drivers. The paperwork I have seen labels terminal as 5v push or pull, I have know idea what this means. Can someone please just explain in simple terms which terminals I need to connect to which will provide the 5v power supply for the three stepper motors I have. Thanks.

All the power signals and wiring paths you need are on the wiring diagram for your type of drive. What drives do you have and what diagram number are you following. We need a lot more info to help you.

Hi, I am trying to go by the wiring diagram which came with the card. I have watched a few videos and they show that I need to use a df25 board for the step and for inputs for the motor driver. I am using three TM542 drivers. The drivers need a 4.2 amp signal power supply each.

Not familiar with that drive and you need to follow Centroids diagrams for your drive or the closest thing to it. Centroid does not publish diagrams for every drive as they are literally thousands. If these are a Leadshine clone type drives there are several Leadshine wiring diagram examples from Centroid.

Did you mean DM542? You posted links to a DM542 drive yet you stated TM542 in your post. Which is it? There are several Leadshine drive schematics on Centroids site. Follow those, not the manual you are looking at.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like you simply pull +5v from the acorn power supply on V1 (comes default with no wires attached by acorn). The -direction and -pulse go to the db25 cable. If your drive has a terminal location for dir+ pulse+ you just daisy chain them together to V1. The acorn and the leadshine document shows that the enable does not need wired and is enabled by default. The dir- and pulse- go to the db25 cable.

I've been working with CNC machines for a total of 5 days so take this advice for what it is.

Yes, 5V from the Meanwell.
Don't daisy chain anything. I wired 5V to a common bus that fed each drive.
Of course, every drive is wired separately.
I have these drives/motors on my Axiom that I converted over to Acorn controller. Worked great, no drama.
