Downloaded g code from flash drive and tool offsets

Post by jake2465 »

I was running a boring op today and I noticed that my light press fit was more light than I would have liked it to be. I went into the tool library and I located my tool and increased the diameter by 0.0005 in an attempt to get the fit more to my liking. But, when I ran another part, I noticed that the fit seemed to be more or less the same. So, I went into Fusion 360 CAM and I had it leave .0002 radial stock and took the flash drive from the M400, downloaded the g code from my lap top, went back to the control and re-downloaded it, and then I ran the part again. I tried the bearing and I noticed that it was indeed a more tight. So, now I am wondering if when using third party g code if the tool diameters in the tool library are not able to be used.

depends on if the g code program is using Cutter Compensation (G41/42) or not. if it is not using a G41/42 then the control by definition is ignoring the diameter of the tool in the tool library. post a report.zip and the sample g code files for more explanation if you like.

Ok, I see. That makes sense. Thank you, Keith.
