New Guy...Plasma Table Question

Post by MrAlWis »

Hi all ……... New to Centroid, Acron, and CNC. I won’t say I’m in over my head, but I never could admit defeat :D . Are there any pitfalls or things i should look out for while setting up my new Acorn board as a 4 x 8 Plasma table. I will be using steppers and my Gecko G540. Computer exceeds the benchmark requirements. The table electronics have been proven and tested using Mach3. Does anyone have experience/insight on setting this up that they would like to share. Any outputs that work better than others for plasma on/off trigger, Any post processor issues using SheetCam, that sort of thing. Thanks in advance.

I would say you can could virtually unplug your cable from your parallel port and plug it right into Acorn's DB25 port. AFTER you do the ACORN Bench test to ensure you have your computer setup correctly and communicating with the Acorn board.

Now how you control the torch height is another issue entirely. You need to describe what you have and how it works now. You may have to acquire a torch height controller.....pictures please of your setup and current control....we like pictures. :D

Hello!

im using an acorn board on a cnc plasma cutter also, how did you go setting yours up?
where did you connect the plasma on/off switch to and are you using the centroid software or is there something better or easier?
