Hello Tech Service

Motors will not turn, as the AcornSix is powered on with. (see attached picture) ClearPath SDSK new motors, cables, Inteligent Power supply #5. Green lights flashing on the motor. Zip File is attached for your review. The XYZ top left changes when I click on - and + the numbers scroll.
Any questions please let me know.

Thank you,

Ronnie

I dont know the kit you are using but do the servos lock and keep the shaft in place when enabled (ie, reset is cleared)? Are these clearpaths servos or steppers?

Did you install the MSP software and program the servos correctly? Can you move the motors with the MSP software? Assuming you followed S15145, have you double checked all your wiring…..three times. :D A green flicker of the status light on the servo means it’s enabled and waiting for a signal.

Hello Tech Service

Motors are locked up as I cannot turn the shaft when the green LED flickers on back of motors. Press E-stop and it releases the motor shaft as I can turn then. I believe I did the MSP as I can turn the motors just fine with their software. I will check further. More to come..............

Thank you,

Ronnie

Correct, when the green LED is flickering the motor is enabled and waiting for a signal to move.

If they move in the MSP software but not with Acorn then you have a programming problem, wiring problem or the wizard is not setup correctly.

With the MSP software you need to program the motor settings to work with Acorn, just moving them in the MSP software only proves they are working. Once they are working and connected to the machine you need to auto tune each axis and this is also done in the MSP software. The motors will move before they are tuned but you'll need to tune them to the mechanics and loads of your particular machine.

Hello Shawn M.

I have tripled check to S15145 all is well with wiring. Does anyone have correct parameters for these motors? Can someone give me a starting base? I slowed things down and now there is a click when I try to move an axis. 800 steps per rev is what these motors are I believe. Is there a generic list available? I am in bench test mode only now.

Thank you,

Ronnie

choose the clearpath drive type in the AcornSix Wizard and it sets the parameters properly for clearpath for you.
clearpath wizard.png
click on "Clearpath SDSK & SDHP
click "load drive"
and then click "write settings to cnc control" and follow the instructions on the screen

Set the motors and Acorn at a MINIMUM of 3200 for the steps. The motors can run up to 6400 steps/rev despite being 800 in the specs. There is no "one size fits all" for all the motor programming. The Teknic manual covers all the MSP software settings. It also covers the auto tune procedure that needs to be performed.

Test the motors NOT installed on the machine. They are not tuned for a load out of the box so if you have them installed and the load is too much they will fault.

Once you get everything working and moving on the bench, then install the motors and then tune them for your machine.

Hello Shawn
I am in bench test mode, to clarify the motors are on a mounting plate clamped to the bench. I have auto tuned and set the MSP up as all three motors move fine. The scope results look fine for command, torque. I did have a motor turning with the Acorn six briefly. Lights on the motors flicker green. I have changed Axis 1,2,3 in the motor parameters to 3200 same in MSP setup. My jog parameters you can see in the zip file I sent. I am not sure if these needs tweaked some?? The DRO is changing as the motors will sound like it wants to do something. Any suggestions??? Thank you,
