Contact them through their Alibaba page. https://ctbservo.en.alibaba.com/ I think the rep's name is Jeff Zhang. They usually reply within 24 hrs.

He quoted me some motors and drives a while back.TRM wrote: ↑Fri Nov 16, 2018 2:26 pmHow do you know Jeff?travasky wrote: ↑Fri Nov 16, 2018 12:29 pm Contact them through their Alibaba page. https://ctbservo.en.alibaba.com/ I think the rep's name is Jeff Zhang. They usually reply within 24 hrs.

Re: What motor to use for lathe spindle?
Based on this all this motor is, is a 3 phase motor with a encoder mounted to it? I can run it with a VFD and feed the encoder signal to acorn and we are done?martyscncgarage wrote: ↑Fri Nov 16, 2018 11:19 amCan you try and reach out to CTB to see if they can provide the correct manual for your drive?TRM wrote: ↑Fri Nov 16, 2018 11:05 am Ok I hit a snag last night. First off all the key pads in the manual have 5 buttons and mine has 4.
On page 73 of the manual 3-27 "An" indicates invalid password. That's the only A group in the menu that I can find.
Here is a video of me going through the menu. Where do we go from here?

If not or too much trouble, you might consider just buying a new GS3 Drive from Automationdirect.com

Your encoder is TTL, you need RS422 (Quadrature)

Re: What motor to use for lathe spindle?
TRM,
I have a similar motor from another Chinese supplier & have it connected to Acorn successfully with encoder feedback.
You will need to set it to speed mode & use the 0~10v input & direction relays.
Quick video of bench testing here,

I can post some details of my setup later.
Regards,
Michael

Re: What motor to use for lathe spindle?
Just remember the motor and spindle must be belted together at 1:1 if you hope to do any rigid tapping, constant Surface speed and accurate spindle RPM.
Have you done a video over iew of this lathe showing the machine, axis motors, lathe motor, encoder, control cabinet?
Might be helpful for us that can't "see" your machine.

Re: What motor to use for lathe spindle?
Marty im almost positive all these types of servo drives that output the encoder signal have electronic gearing so you can run at a non 1:1 ratio. Mechanical backlash is another story however.

Re: What motor to use for lathe spindle?
Nope won't work. CNC12 must see the index pulse ONCE per spindle revolution.
You want to do this right, put an encoder ON the spindle with a timing belt at 1:1
