And the problem with MDI mode? why is this not happening?
I am looking into it now.
In the lathe manual P#48 is now Grid Digitize Patch Playback Z rapid clearance like on the mill.
In former Versions that was 0=G99 default 1=G98 default
If set to 1 G99 ist still active

Also G96 is now on by default not G97

That results that in MDI:
G98 Z200 F200 ist requierd to move the Z axis at 200 units/min
G97 M3 S200 is requierd to turn the spindle at 200 rpm

In the manual G97 is marked as default, not G96
G96 is als not displayed in the active g codes, but G97 is shown not to be active

If G97 is active, it is not marked as active.

I've found.
I used to type enter at the end of my code in MDI.
You must now press cycle start.
I'm not a big fan of this new configuration.
Definitely time to get used to it.
I don't think I saw this in the 5.20 version notes, but my old version was 4.62
Maybe it comes from a previous version that I didn't install.

any automatic cnc machine motion requires a cycle start press. this has been this way since the dawn of CNC time. :D

dont jump to conclusion so fast. there is a feature in the Acorn CNC Setup Wizard ""*PC Keyboard <Enter Key> = CNC Machine <Cycle Start>" you must have that set to NO in v5.20 , change it to YES. if you post a fresh report.zip file when commenting on possible issue, then i could tell if you have this setting set to NO.
enter as cycle start.png

Uwe,

G97 is active when it is displayed in the active g-codes, even though it is grey. When G96 is active, it will display with white text and a green background (in default colors).

There is a bug where P48 does not work for AcornSix and other non-Acorn boards currently. We are looking into it.

The lathe manual will be updated, it looks like some Mill verbiage snuck its way over.

SOLVED! Thanks to ScottW for helping figure this out. He said he thought the tool change routine had taken the focus off the CNC12 software, and clicking on the Blue area might return focus and free it up. That didn't do it, but an additional Cycle Start DID free it up!
I'm still not sure why the Z commands on the virtual keyboard did work, when the X & Y moves didn't? Anyway, I don't need to know all the behind the scenes as long as it works.
******************
Just upgraded to v5.20. Went pretty smoothly and was glad to be able to have my Touch Off - Z plate and Probe set up and available.
My issue is with the "ALT J" keyboard control.
It works fine until I do an automatic tool change, then it will execute 1 move command in X or Y (doesn't matter how far it moves) Then X and Y are nonresponsive, but Z still works. Both my wired and wireless keyboards have the same symptoms. The touch screen or mouse still has control of all axis.
I have a tool changer by Rapidchange ATC which was working fine on v5.10.
I'm attaching a Centroid Report and also the Rapidchange mfunc6 file.
I have a converted Shopbot PRS, with original Gecko 202 drivers and Oriental stepper motors.
Hoping you can help, Thanks
David
