my chinese vfd with acorn lathe

Post by chris1976 »

hi there, i have got to the point of getting acorn to control the vfd and spindle, ive noticed on a few of the different schematics that some of the output 4,5,6 share coms and some have the forward and reverse into the same output, i have attached a few photos of what i am referring to. also some shots of the vfd manual.
could anyone advise me on getting this wired up correctly please, theres also a spindle encoder on the lathe.
thanks

chris

I have followed the S14983 generic vfd drawing

Are you looking for confirmation that your wiring is correct or are you experiencing an issue? Are you trying to get spindle speed controlled by Acorn, external potentiometer, or from the VFD panel?

In general, judging from the manual pages you have posted and the picture of the terminals from one of your previous threads, I think you should follow the EMCO PC55 schematic S14986 for the input and output assignments and wiring with the generic inverter schematic S14983 for reference as you have been with the following notes and assignments in the VFD parameters. Assuming the parameters are still at the default settings:

* SPIN_FORWARD to X1, VFD parameter F5.02 at the default setting of 3
* SPIN_REVERSE to X2, VFD parameter F5.03 at the default setting of 4
* VFD_RESET to X5 (labelled 485-), VFD parameter F5.06 at the default setting of 8. In one of your previous threads, I believe the default setting of this parameter was stopping you from assigning the VFD reset function to X3.
* SPINDLE_OK to TA, VFD parameter F5.07 at default setting of 5
* Acorn PLC input power supply (may be the same as Acorn power supply) common to TB.
* VFD_COMMON to one of the GND terminals on the VFD i/o header. Makes sense to use the one near the relay outputs TA-TB-TC.

* VFD parameter F0.02 = 1 to enable control from the I/O terminals

For spindle speed controlled by Acorn, set these parameters and wire these signals:
* VFD parameter F0.03 to 2 for analog 0-10V input control
* Acorn AN_OUT to VFD AVI
* Acorn AN_GND to VFD GND terminal between +10V and AO1 terminals.
