Thanks Keith, I asked this question because I was watching a video from HAAS on rigid tapping with a peck cycle . They say you have to turn on synchronization in order to do rigid tapping with a peck cycle. They remind you to turn off synchronization if you are not peck tapping so as not to slow things down... This is why I asked the question.
Which bring me to my real question . When is a peck cycle really needed for rigid tapping?

I use peck tapping often with small deep holes in cast iron. It doesn't really create "chips", and the dust tends to pack in the flutes. Peck tapping clears it out of the flutes.

Thanks Tom. I will keep that in mind as I have a small cast iron project coming up. Currently I am working with aluminum and low carbon steel so it is probably unnecessary.

Centroid is synchronizing on the fly, you will not lose time
