I may be asking a very simple question which is covered somewhere else but I would like to add a button to the VCP to allow switching units between imperial and metric on the DRO.
Can this be done?

Re: DRO display units
hello. just the DRO?
so you want to have the machine running in inches but display mm?
or you want to switch the machine system to mm and back to inches with a vcp button?

Re: DRO display units
Never thought of that. I more concerned with format. If a program is in G21, knowing that, I would like to visualize the coordinates in metric. I am not really worried about changing the actual base machine into metric.
So I guess the answer is just the DRO

Re: DRO display units
I haven't tried recently, but in the past there were issues with DRO units different than machine units.
AFAIK, there is still no way to programmatically change DRO and machine units. The only way is from the config screen

I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are where they should be.

Re: DRO display units
I guess I am not understanding this completely. I understand the machine configuration such as for the motors is set as rev/in., etc. I assume when a program is written with G21 that CNC12 must scale everything to match the configuration. I can run metric programs now and everything works fine it's just I want to see the display in mm's and not inches for those particular programs.

Re: DRO display units
change to mm is still quick to do
F1 Setup, F3 config, F1 control, toggle with space bar inches to mm in both places, press F10 save. press ESC to go back to main menu.
here is video of me doing it

Re: DRO display units
Thanks, I understand. Still be nice to just have that assigned to a button.
