If you use an Estop contactor to remove power from the drives or open the common to the spindle motor, you would need to contact blocks.
If you choose not to use an Estop contactor, then you only need one contact block per the typical Acorn schematics.
The Acorn SYSTEM schematic shows an Estop contactor
