In all these back and forth searches to learn why my machine will NOT move to the home switches, I have sent a post of my machine settings. None of the setting requirements, ie., have changed from day 1. My other original question was: Why are all the home directions settings in the Wizard reset back to M92+.
This is clearly not the reason the machine does not move to set home, because Z is the first axis required to move, and it is supposed to move in the + direction, however the fact that the settings change with a power off/on cycle indicates in my mind, there is something else at play in the machine memory settings.

Make sure you have screen shots of your Wizard settings. (Windows 10 Snipping tool works best)
Is this a NEW build? First time cnc conversion for you?

When you start configuring CNC12 4.50, start from the TOP of the Wizard selection on the left side and work your way down.
Would be very helpful if you posted pictures of your machine, your control cabinet etc. We can't "SEE" what you see.
Are you running Gecko G540 in drive only? Moved all the inputs and outputs to Acorn or are you trying to run G540 in Legacy mode (Trying to leave inputs and outputs on G540) Please note, you WILL have to move your spindle control to Acorn.

Speaking of. Please post screen shots of your Wizard pages so we can see what's going on along with a FRESH report.

This is not a new build. This machine has run for over 2 years on Mach3, including a 4th. axis, cutting splines, machibouning parts with 6 tool changes using a tool touch-off block, using input 4.

I have built 4 cnc machines, one a Lagun FTV knee mill, twice the size of a Bridgeport, using DC
servo's with encoders; using Vital Systems controls, that was a retro-fit from a 12 year old Sharnoa 4 axis control
I bought my first CNC mill in 1981, a Sharnoa 4-axis, and a second 4-axis bed mill in 1989. I was in the machine shop business, making a living with CNC mills for 40 years, and retired a couple of years ago, keeping the mini-mill, and setting it up with Acorn.

I believed setting up an acorn would be so much better; I fully understand how to open the Wizard, and input the settings.

The computer is an Intel NUC exactly the model recommended by Centroid, with more memory, and a larger SSD I have asked why my directions settings all change back to all M92+ after a power down, and restart with no answer. My personal suspicion is a faulty memory location, or a corrupted program file.

Hopefully, I can get my license and Pro version re-installed.

Thanks for all the assistance
John

Please post a fresh report.
I'll load it on my benchtest rig and test it.

When you do a fresh install, you do need to reload your license file. Just point to it, either the license.dat file or the file sent to you from Centroid.

I have a brand new problem, not with CNC12. One of my last efforts to fix the home problem, I edited the last three lines, in the cncm.hom file. I wanted to add a delay P1 after the M26/Z and the Y and X.
Apparently, the editor, Notepad put a txt at the end of the filename, and now Wizard will not load "cannot find cncm.hom , Wizard is shutting down" or something like that. Looking at the cncm file listings, the file is there, but it must have a new "illegal" name as far as CNC12 thinks!

How can I edit the file to get it back to the proper name cncm.hom with no invisible type added?

Question 2: I watched many videos last night, and one of the last ones in the list was by a member discussing pulse width. There a parameter that
sets the pulse frequency, I think it is 198, and the highest setting is 400 cycles/sec. However at this rate, the pulse width is too short. My stepping motors might not be working OK at low speeds, as in a home setting situation, and I plan to set the frequency of the pulse rate to 100.

I think this might be the homing problem. Apparently, there is a table in CNC12 showing pulse frequency, and what the corresponding #setting is for parameter 198.

I do not have access to the machine until later today;

John

Rename the file cncm.hom
Go into the Wizard Advanced Tab and set frequency to 100khz

You're not giving us much to go on. No report, no Wizard screen shots, don't know which end of each axis your home switches are on...

You have windows filetype extensions hidden. See this thread on how to correct that.

If you have an Acorn, and you used the Wizard to properly setup the Home and Travels, CNC12 will create the CNCM.HOM or CNCT.HOM file for you.
You still have not taken the time to post a screen shot of your Wizard screens. At least the Homing and Travel Screen. Use the Windows 10 snipping tool and then upload the screenshot.
Also tell us WHICH end of the axis travels your home switches are on.
Sounds to me like you are digging yourself a hole...

Are you ALLOWING the Wizard to Generate the HOME File? Because from your last report
EXAMPLE SCREEN SHOT Showing allowing the Wizard to Generate the file ONCE its configured:
Automatic Home to Switches.jpg
You have your soft limits set up:

But your CNCM.HOM file is set up to JOG to limits:
