On Startup, CNC12 Mill overwrote Lathe Software (Resolved)

Post by needonemoretool »

I am using the same computer for both Acorn boards for a couple months. I physically move the computer from one machine to the other and the Ethernet connections are never connected at the same time.

So this morning I moved the computer to the lathe and turned it on. The CNC12 mill automatically started, which it seems to do this on occasion but not always, then a message came up telling me not to turn the machine off while it reloads. When finished, CNC12 mill opened not the lathe software. I closed everything out, turned everything off and back on and restarted. When I start the lathe software it is again CNC12 mill. I think it loaded the mill software on to the lathe acorn board.

Suggestions?

Resolved..... For some reason the Ethernet thought it was connecting to CNC12 Mill. So I changed Ethernet setting to a totally different one. Rebooted. Then restarted and then changed to the correct Ethernet. When I tried to load Lathe Acorn it reinstalled the lathe software.

Whew......

All Acorn's have the same static IP address.
Its up to you to make sure you start MILL or LATHE versions of CNC12 and to make sure you have the correct Acorn connected.

One of the reason I personally refuse to share a computer with multiple machines.
But, to each his own....glad you have it sorted
