PM-25MV e-stop

Post by Orville »

Hi, first time post on here so please treat me gently. I am in the process of converting a Warco WM16B mill which is the UK equivalent of the PM25MV (I am in the UK by the way). My question is regarding the e-stop circuit, does anybody know if you can tie the centroid e-stop and the e-stop on the machine into the same circuit? As as it is now it will only stop the spindle or Centroid depending which one you hit which in my view is not really a good thing. I would prefer it if both stopped whichever button you hit.

Orville, I haven't got that far with my PM25MV yet, but I did see a video or post were the individual added another contact to the e-stop switch in the mill control box. It could have been in one of Franco's youtube videos (very helpful with lots of ideas).

In any case I will add a second contact to the switch or change to a switch with two contacts.

Some of the Centroid schematics feed the E-Stop contact to a relay and then to a spindle motor and steppers/servos.

Search the topics and videos they will save time and money.\

Thanks for the reply, I have seen the videos by Franco and Marty and I have to say they are brilliant and I would not have even started this project without them. I have been looking through the Centroid schematics but have not come across what I think I am looking for yet, the only ones I have found up to now show a relay going to a VFD.

I would like to use the relay board for my spindle control (just the on/off and forwards/backwards) but have no idea where to start (might be a good video for Franco or Marty to do).

Orville,

not sure if the controls board in the PM-25 changed since I did my conversion but here's the schematics how I wired the PM-25 control to the Acorn board to wire the E-Stop of the PM-25 in series with the other E-Stops and also control the spindle speed and direction via CNC12 (btw Franco used my diagram in one of his videos):

PM25-Schematics2.pdf
(1.3 MiB) Downloaded 154 times

This diagram is based on an earlier version of the Acorn board that did not come with the relay board but the principle stays the same. Don't use the Mac Preview app to view the PDF file as the Preview app does not show all wires for some reasons.

Hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions.

Sorry Swissi, I left your post out, it was the one I was looking for. It was raining out and my two boxer dogs want to play and would not let me look for the information.

I will make connections per your schematic on my mill.
Thanks, Chuck

Thanks Swissi, that is just what I have been looking for. I have just found Franco's video as well. I am a while off doing this as I would like to get the rest of the machine working properly first before I start messing with this as I am no electrical guru so am I ok to PM you when I get round to doing it if I have any issues?

I have been looking for a KBSI-240D board and although the cost of the actual board is ok I can only find them in the USA and the cost of postage to the UK is obscene. Does anybody know if they are available in the UK under a different name?

Have you tried searching EBAY in the UK?

Hi Marty, yes I've searched eBay and I can only locate them in the USA and all of the quoting between $65 and $100 for postage to the UK, quite where they get that price from I do not know.

Sorry to bother you all again but what sort of price should I be paying for a KBSI-240D board? Just realised the combined cost of the board and postage may be the going price for one.
