The proma 150 SD works great very simple to wire up
out of the box 30 minutes have it working

Is this how you wired it? Can you share more details about your setup and how you got it working? Maybe a video of it?Craig Hilliard wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2019 1:24 am The proma 150 SD works great very simple to wire up

Shoptask turnado lathe converted to acorn (when I finally receive the machine)

Re: Advice on retrofit of proprietary plasma table?
Hi Marty, Using Craig Fusion post Acorn works great with a plasma cutter. I will be posting a video Monday or Tuesday I made one yesterday but it is 1 second long due to a glitch with my phone i will use a proper camera on Monday but you can see some sample cuts in the picture. Once i fine tune the amps and the cut speed and the travels it will get better. Using the Fusion 360 post it loads and cuts with no problems.martyscncgarage wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2019 8:04 pm Do what you have to do. It works with stand alone THCs. There are several users running them .
Centroid can only do so much at once.

Re: Advice on retrofit of proprietary plasma table?
I would be interested in trying this on our custom 4x8 built plasma. Acorn, clearpaths, z stepper, I actually have a neuron THC to put on, but would be willing to compare the two.

Compare the two? That would be a waste of your time.CHAOTiC WAYz wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 10:22 pm I would be interested in trying this on our custom 4x8 built plasma. Acorn, clearpaths, z stepper, I actually have a neuron THC to put on, but would be willing to compare the two.
I’m sure the Neuron is a nice unit but when you can buy the controller and THC from the same manufacturer and also use their software this gives me that warm fuzzy feeling inside.
What's a Z stepper?

Re: Advice on retrofit of proprietary plasma table?
Using a stepper on the z axis, clearpath servos on the x and y.
The neuron is a full stand alone that takes over the z axis, that was the main reason for wanting to give it a try. Currently not running a thc, as we usually only cut 18ga-1/4 inch sheet / plate. havent seen a need for it yet. But the neuron is on the shelf in waiting.

Re: Advice on retrofit of proprietary plasma table?
Got it, I thought it was some sort of gadget I hadn't heard of. I would think you'd want your Z axis to be the most accurate and quickest when using a THC. Not sure how one would get that with a stepper over a servo.
I have Clearpath on all axis (dual Y motors on a 5x10 ShopSabre plasma table) and the Acorn THC has been awesome to test. It's gonna be a game changer when it's available.
