Acorn not controlling DMM Servo (Added video to my post)
I have the latest version of Acorn to control DMM servos. I followed Marty's setup video to a T. I am using DMM db25 cable from DMM. The crazy thing is when I uncheck enable I can control the servo. The Axis light stays red. I am only trying to connect 1 servo to bench test it. I set the servo motor up using DMM software. Set it up for pulse. The servo works great when I'm testing it through DMM software. When I check enable the axis light turns green but I can't control the servo. It unlocks and I can turn it with my fingers. Again I followed every step in Marty's video. Totally confused.

Re: Acorn not controlling DMM Servo
Uncheck enable WHERE? You mean in Advanced Settings where you INVERT signals?
What is an "AXIS LIGHT"?
PICTURES PICTURES PICTURES! Wizard Screen shots please.
We can't "SEE" what you see....
Please follow this post for good accurate help: viewtopic.php?f=60&t=1043
You are using the header on Acorn and not the DB25?

Re: Acorn not controlling DMM Servo
Yes enable in advance settings. The DB25 connected is connected to the DYN4 controller and the wires from the other end are connected to X axis on Acorn. The light I’m referring to is the axis light. It turns green when estop is reset. I will send pictures when I get back home.

Re: Acorn not controlling DMM Servo
You are speaking of the LED's on Acorn? That is correct, when Estop is released the leds should go green or enable.marks3465 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 22, 2019 1:13 pm Yes enable in advance settings. When you hit Estop, you want to DISABLE the drives.
Yes, Uncheck the enables in advanced settings for Dyn4 connected to the Acorn Headers

Re: Acorn not controlling DMM Servo
Thanks Marty, my confusion was because in your video you say to check enable in advance settings. Every time I go in the Wizard it tries to default back to being checked in the enable setting,

Re: Acorn not controlling DMM Servo
Different software revisions or how they are connected to Acorn make a difference.
Sorry for the confusion. That's the way it goes when software evolves. Dyn2 and DYN4 needed to be separated. Centroid chose to do that in the next upcoming software revision and it's caused confusion

Re: Acorn not controlling DMM Servo
Kieth,
Not to beat a dead horse but if check the enable box in advanced settings the drive doesn't work. I have tried over and over and the only way I can get the drive to work is to uncheck enable. What I don't understand is every time I go into the Wizard it wants to default back to having the enable box checked in advance settings. Do you have any Ideas? I did everything on you cheat sheet and still have to uncheck the enable box.

Re: Acorn not controlling DMM Servo
dmm might have changed the dyn4 firmware and flipped the action of the enable?.. i think there was talk of doing that.. get up with them on how they recommend setting up your firmware version with Acorn.
the enable check boxes sticking on the DMM/DYN4 drive type is a minor Wizard bug annoyance (which has been eradicated in upcoming v4.20).. work around is to simply use the Drive Type "Other" radio button and follow my cheat sheet (basically creating your own custom drive type) and be sure to select whether you are using the Screw Terminal or DB25 in in the DB25 mapping menu and you are good to go.
alternatively you can set P961=0 in CNC config menu after you run the wizard if you choose to keep using the DMM/DYN4 drive type in the Wizard.

Re: Acorn not controlling DMM Servo
The other issue is that DYN2 should be wired to DB25 while DYN4 is generally wired to the Acorn headers. The step/dir/en signals are inverted between the two. Ticking the DYN2/DYN4 radio button works perfectly for DYN2 on the DB25, but DYN4 needs its enable pin inverted.
Keith is right, I believe in the latest iteration of DMMDRV software you can change the Enable signal state in DYN4
Marty
