4th axis rotary table help <answered>

Post by Swarfmonger »

Hello,
I was trying to sort out one last thing on my CNC mill conversion and was wondering if someone could possibly help me. When I originally hooked up my 4th axis rotary table and tried it with the default overall turns ratio setting in the wizard of 5,it rotated 40 complete revolutions before stopping. Then I inputted .125 (5 divided by 40) and that made it read properly but now it is extremely slow. Is there something I can do to to speed things up a bit while maintaining a proper reading and function? Thank you very much!

Best regards,
Dave

Setting seps per rev and revs per inch is a straightforward numerical item if you post your driver settings and the reduction of the rotary fixture. Please post them

For a 4th axis rotary table the Slow Jog, Fast Jog and Max Rate are in degrees per minute not inches per minute. This is a common mistake when setting up a rotary table. Your Slow Jog, Fast Jog and Max Rate are 50 so this would be 50 degrees per minute. For rule of thumb for a rotary table if you use about 80% of the max rate this should not get you position errors.

I just clocked it and it is indeed doing 50 degrees per minute. I guess it just seemed slow when compared to the table and quill jog rates. Thank you both for your help,I really appreciate it!
