DIY 3d Printed Tool Touch Off Probe

Post by Grifftek »

I am at the finishing stage of refitting an old Dyna 2400 retrofit with an Acorn control. I decided I wanted to add a tool touch probe and ordered one of those inexpensive aluminum and plastic probes from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GT ... UTF8&psc=1)

Being impatient, I decided to whip one up in Solidworks. I 3d printed the housing and machined the conductive part.

you can see more photos of the probe here:

When I configured the software, I set the Z reference point at the Z home position and did a touch off for 3 tools ( I still haven't installed the license file for pro so I was limited to 3 tools) and 2 of the readings were exactly the same and one was 0.0001 off. Not bad for a DIY solution

Regards

Bill,
Upload the photos as attachments

Nice work on the probe. Are you going to sell them or are you willing to provide the STL file so others could print the body?
