PC Drive Failure: What files do I need to recover?
The drives on the PCs for two of our machines have failed. The replacement PCs were loaded with clones from the PC on another machine, but that... didn't work.
What files do we need to recover from the dead drives?
What else do we need to know here?
Thanks for any help!

I suppose this is not running with Acorn...
... and maybe to clone a dead HD is not the best idea, do you have a current backup?

Re: PC Drive Failure: What files do I need to recover?
Thanks for the reply. If not Acorn, where do I find what we're actually using? (I wasn't involved with the original setup/install, trying to get up to speed on this.)
Unfortunately, we don't have a current back up. We reported those PCs were running slow to campus computer services (college) and they replaced all of the Centroid PCs over summer... apparently two drives wouldn't clone, so those two were loaded with clones from a different machine, which leaves us where we are now.
I was hoping we could try to recover whatever specific files are unique to each machine. I just need to know what files in what directories.

If the CNC is starting, you can generate a report and post it here...

Report is attached. Pulled from the machine showing the error in the above screen shot. The machines were converted by different people at different times, but they were all running the same software version.
Thanks again for your help here.

Re: PC Drive Failure: What files do I need to recover?
I moved this post to the Allin1DC forum.
you have two ways to go.
1.) buy/build and configure a new CNCPC and install CNC12 v5.06 and press "restore" report and you'll be back up and running in minutes.
-OR-
2.) copy the entire c:\cncm directory out of the old computer and paste into the new computer
i would do # 1 but also make a copy of the entire CNCM directory as a backup to a thumb drive or another pc etc.

buy a new PC here.
https://shopcentroidcnc.com/shop/cnc-ac ... ini-cncpc/
request that v5.06 cnc12 be install on it, or install it yourself
do you have an M400 console?
or buy your own PC and use our free CNC PC Tuner App to configure it for CNC use.

Re: PC Drive Failure: What files do I need to recover?
All you really need to do is restore a previous Report from the target machine. From the new Report you posted, that machine appears to be K101602, which would be one of the two Chevaliers.
Since all five machines are running the same CNC12 version (5.06), on the same control hardware (Allin1DC), the underlying CNC12 installation from one machine is usable on any other machine. You only need to add all the files that are unique or custom to that specific milling machine. Those files are contained in a Report.
I have Reports from all five of your machines, from November 2023. If you do not have anything more recent, then let me know and I will e-mail you my 2023 reports.
