Lathe Software - Y Axis?

Post by Chaz »

Hi,

Not sure where to ask and I'm sure I saw something in a thread but cant find it.

I've got a small Boxford Dueti 'training' mill / lathe combo machine. It needs a retrofit but for the lathe to work, the tools have to be adjusted by the existing Y Axis. I think Uwe indicated this can be custom coded however I recall seeing that this might be a feature in 5.4? Can anyone confirm please?

Here's a good video that shows the 'layout' of the ATC that I need to be able to deal with.

Thanks

Cool machine.

You can just use the Y axis as a fourth axis on a lathe, easy to set up in the wizard.

Auto tool setup in the lathe is by default not with y axis, if you want this, it needs customizing

G54 / G28 ect. will work with all axes in 5.40

IMHO no problem to use the lathe with Acorn, and it will not run in slow motion as it is doing now

Thanks. A bit of a a toy. Not the most ridgid and I was hoping to get my youngest into machining. A bit of an impulse buy from a girl working at Mercedes F1 in Silverstone, so she sold it as she was struggling with the electrics and can use their machines as needed when they have some downtime etc. It came with a very basic GRBL board thing, works ok, but cant do Y Lathe either. So just 1 tool max.

You will need a customized macro for tool change depending on Y position, but no problem to do it.
