Hello
Good news. I was able to trace the issue to factory wires in the panel DB9 plug that was were swapped compared to the schematic for my enclosure. Once all the shrink-wrap was removed, the error was found. I soldered up a new DB9 and the probe appears to work as per the manual.
However new question?
I started to run through the stylus calibration menu this past weekend using the calibration ring that came with the probe. I have my units set to metric in cnc12 and the mill is a Sherline ball screw mill. The probe was first checked with a precise dial indicator with only a small adjustment needed for concentricity to have almost no runout.
I then ran the stylus calibration test in cnc12 v5.30, using the standard 5mm ball stylus and a test ring with internal bore diameter of 24.9980mm. I set the tool 10 offset library for #10 to 0.0000 diameter and ran the test.
Entered 25 for my ring and 5 for the stylus diameter.
The result gave a reading:
Probe stylus pretravel amount: -19.605
Probe tool diameter #10 has been set to 24.605
When the bore test was run it read: 24.999 which matches the ring.
I ran the test several times decreasing the jog speed to a crawl for comparison and received almost the same results each time.
I then tried the regular bore probe menu and it gave 25mm as the result.
The numbers from the calibration test seem odd. Why is it giving a pretravel amount of -19.605 and setting the diameter to such a large number at 24.605? That’s almost 5x the stylus diameter. I’ve tried looking through numerous settings and wondered if there is a setting somewhere that’s causing the results.
Thanks

Appreciate the report, you have your machine units in Inches. Please input the diameter of the bore and Probe Tip Diameter in terms of inches rather than mm.

Re: Need help with KP-1 Probe. Setup issues
Your system is setup with imperial units, so you have to enter the ring diameter in inch, not in mm

Re: Need help with KP-1 Probe. Setup issues
Please note that you can enter the dimensions as and and CNC12 will evaluate the expressions. I do this all the time to avoid doing the mm to inch conversion when checking out a probe.
