I have been asked to retrofit a Jig Grinder from a GE 1050 control. Part of the requirement is that it has to be able to readout to .000010, can this be done with a Centroid control?
Thoughts, recommendations?

Re: Moore Jig Grinder
Should be no problem if the axis drive is set up to the requirements.

Re: Moore Jig Grinder
Moore jig grinders are amazing machines, but I think 10 millionths is a little optimistic.
Cheers,

I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are where they should be.

Re: Moore Jig Grinder
That's a bit optimistic for any machine, no?

Re: Moore Jig Grinder
.000010 in = 0.254 µm
Readout from a Heidenhain LC116 scale is 0.001 µm
With an EnDat2.2 converter it is possible to read for the Centroid scale input.
So the readout is not the problem IMHO, but the readout will be better than the position accuracy of the machine.

Re: Moore Jig Grinder
Thank you for the responses. Sounds like it can be done, I was wondering if I could get the Centroid to readout at least 5 places to the right of the decimal. The retrofits that I have done on mills, never had to worry about being that accurate.

Re: Moore Jig Grinder
No problem:
11.4.160 Parameter 263 – DRO Display Precision
This parameter lets you decide the precision of the DRO display by adding decimal points. The default setting 4, which
corresponds to 4 decimals. Ex. 4.1234. Allows changes to the number of decimals show in the DRO. The default
value is 4. A value of 1 will display 1 decimal place while a value of 2 will display 2 places and so on. The range of
values that can be displayed are between 1 and 7 decimal places. Use this Parameter to control DRO Display
Precision not Parameter 143. Determines the precision after the decimal that is displayed on the DRO.
