Erratic behavior! <mechanical issues, pinion is bolted directly to stepper (no good), and spring too tight>

Looks like a mechanical issue. How do you drive the axis?

Closed loop rack and pinion.

It only does it when the gcode count is large. It takes about 7-10 minutes to start happening.

Are you using an ethernet port on the computer that is running the software?

You really need to post a report. Could be the computer not being able to process the lines fast enough, or you could have communication issues.
