Tried the DB25 route. No luck, exact same behavior. Looks like it is probably time to throw in the towel.

Wired up the resistors and axis would move at all. Looked at the manual a little closer and it only calls for added resistors when the voltage is above 12v. So if I'm reading this correctly, it doesn't apply to the Acorn setup and I was wired according to the manual from the start.

My drivers are DM series (DMA860H). Looks like I attached the MA series manual on accident. Followed the DM series Acorn schematic with the only difference being that we aren't using the enable signal. These drivers default to enabled state with no signal.
