Re: Separate Input Power Supply
oh really? The commons from the two different 24V power supplies should be tied together?
I figured that was not a good thing and could cause ground loops.

Separate Input Power Supply
I looked in the Acorn manual and also did some searching here on the board but haven't seen this question addressed.
Is it OK if I provide +24VDC from a separate power supply to the input H4 terminal? (the common would also be separate).
I have Acorn powered by the included Meanwell power supply ...

Re: Acorn conversion
Acorn was designed to work with a touchscreen PC so YES it will work no problem.
Your post mentions upgrading the MX2 - going to centroid controls will be basically be a whole new control system - the old MX2 will be thrown in the dumpster.
You will be far better off with the Centroid "All-in-1-DC ...

Re: proLIGHT 2000 Conversion to Acorn
Thanks Tom and Marty, your above posts have given me the info that I was not fully understanding.
Looks like I need to tune my spindle controller which I have not attempted at all. Now it makes sense.

Re: proLIGHT 2000 Conversion to Acorn
Hi Marty,
Yes I can currently raise and lower the speed via the VCP but the numbers shown on the screen are WAY off from what the actual machine rpm is.
Let me dig up the manual.
Should I be putting in the min/max speeds for the electric motor (aka 7200 rpm max) or for the machine (10k) ?

Re: proLIGHT 2000 Conversion to Acorn
You need to setup your spindle speed in high range pretty accurately FIRST.
You can setup for reduction if needed.
Look in the Spindle Tab of the Wizard.
Hi Marty,
The machine only has one spindle range so I'm a bit confused on what to do with the high/mid/low range.
The pulley on the motor ...

Re: Unable to open nc files
Sorry for the delayed response guys!
Turns out it was an issue with the USB stick, I switched to another one and the issue went away.
Thanks for the help and sorry for the fire drill!

Re: Unable to open nc files
I just attempted to open the file on a 3rd computer as a sanity check and that computer wouldn't even recognize the USB drive. I will try a different flash drive and report back.
