I ended up using the M10 & M11 gcode functions.
The Fusion 360 post by swissi actually has this feature, if enabled, it inserts all the code when generating the program.
Very awesome.

Re: Wizard Functions | Axis4BrakeRelease
So I guess I misunderstood how this function performs.
Since it only releases the brake, that really doesn't help the situation.
With larger parts, moving further from the CL of the 4th axis, the cutting forces are over coming the holding torque of the 4th axis motor.
I measured, with a torque ...

Re: Wizard Functions | Axis4BrakeRelease
OK, thx
Just to be sure I'm understanding, the new functions, Axis4BrakeRelease specifically, will be available with 4.20.1 ?

Re: Wizard Functions | Axis4BrakeRelease
What version of CNC12 has this functionality?
The document say v4.5 with a date of 2/28/20 --> Acorn CNC12 v4.5 Acorn Wizard Input and Output “canned” PLC functions and M codes rev2 2-28-20
When trying to set the function to the output I have wired, the function was not visible within the Wizard.

Re: Hardinge HC | Acorn Install
It's been over a year ago, but I did watch the turret operate via Mach, it's pneumatic. The lock on the front side flips up and then the turret rotates... I can't quite remember if the turret lifts before rotating to each position or not.... I guess this will be a mystery solved at a later date... I ...

Thanks Marty, I'm pretty excited about this machine, I've only heard good things about them...
I was was having similar thoughts about making it move... I'll examine the breakout board more closely before going too far.
Here are some pictures of the turret, let me know what you think.
Thanks
Chris

Hardinge HC | Acorn Install
This is my second Acorn project, first was a bench top Mill. The previous owner was running it with Mach3. I believe this lathe was originally a NC machine, which is what I was told by the previous owner. I'm pretty sure all the wiring and components in the cabinet on the tail stock end of the ...

Re: Wizard Functions | Axis4BrakeRelease
Thanks for the clear explanation Marty, makes good sense for my inverse Polish notation mind ....
I'm excited to get this working. Just need to finish the current job on the mill, and will remake the mount for the indexer to accommodate the brake components.

Wizard Functions | Axis4BrakeRelease
Hi All,
My 4th axis drive motor holding torque gets over come by cutting forces on larger parts.
I have an electromagnetic brake to install on the drive pulley that will provide 30x the holding torque. (thanks Dale x2)
I'm not too familiar with the built in acorn wizard functions, so looking for ...
