Re: Emco compact 8 Conversion progress
This will obviously be machined from bar stock when proven.

Re: Emco compact 8 Acorn Conversion progress
Man, that looks so familiar! Denford made the ORAC from the C8 (the Taiwanese version made to Denford's standards) and my manual lathe is a Taiwanese clone of the C8 marketed by Harbor Freight in the early 80's and is a great little machine. Not the China-made stuff they sell now.
Speaking of manual lathes, Clay ol' buddy ol' pal; would you consider selling me some of the unneeded parts out of your carriage? I don't know which ones yet. I was using it late last night making some parts for a buddy/customer & the carriage feed handle locked up at the end of a cut & won't release. I broke the handle off trying to release it! I know the half nut is worn badly judging by the slop it has. I've put a ton of hours on this little guy & can't function without it. I'll be taking it apart tonight to find out what's needed to fix it.

Layout first stab. Electrical box is in, DMM Drives and motors are in, but I have to go out of town, so no fun until Saturday. Hope to start bench testing asap.

Looks good Frijoli!
Are you using the DB25 breakout board and connecting the drives to it? That's what DMM recommended to me and it works great.
Also, I got the ZRI working thanks to Scott's help. Video forth coming.

I was not aware of the breakout board. Does it separate/combine all the signals, meaning for all three axis?martyscncgarage wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2017 8:03 pm Looks good Frijoli!

The DYN4 drive uses a DB25 cable for the I/O including the analog. So I'm not sure how it would work.

NOPE! My mistake. Here is the schematic for the DYN4 provided to me by DMM. DYN2 goes through the DB25frijoli wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2017 8:22 pmI was not aware of the breakout board.
