Limit Switches, Soft Limits, Homing

Post by wallyhart »

Scott,

I now have the limits wired properly and mostly working. The X & Z axis jogs onto the switch and jogs off. However, the Y axis, jogs onto the switch and doesn't jog off. That axis I have to hit the RESET button for it to jog!! Shouldn't they all act in the same manner? I do have that "Y" axis reversed in the Homing/Limits.

I'm having problems in the Soft Limit setup in the Homing/Limit tab. I've tried multiple setups and I continue to get an error "SoftLimits Max < Min". I'm working in inches and my table is 72' x 120". However, for setup purposes I want to use a small table setup now(18"x24") and change it when I'm up and running. I'm homing towards -x, -y and +z. For the X axis, soft max I have 24.00, soft min=0, Slow zone=2.00, Home off=0, Home Neg=x, Auto Zero=check, Speed=20. For the "Y" the same, except I reversed the first box and I have 18.00 and 0. The 'Z", I have 0 (Max) and 4" (Min). I tried max at 0 and min w/ the other value and the same happens. I closed the Mach and restarted it. The machine doesn't home automatically and I haven't found a button to push to start the homing process. The only machine movement that I'm doing is slow jogging at this point. Is that why the SoftLimit error is occuring?

Wally,

If you home to positive, you (most likely) should have a 0 in your max travel and negative something in your
min travel. If you put a 0 in max and 4 in min, you'll get a "SoftLimits Max < Min" message -Obviously 0 (Max) < 4 (Min)

You can find more information on Mach soft limits at http://www.machsupport.com

or read the mach manual:http://www.machsupport.com/docs/Mach3Mi ... Config.pdf

To do auto homing, see the manual for using M92 or see this post to set up your "ref all" button.
