I have begun gathering information on the installation, setup and configuration of the CNC Depot Spindles with Acorn.
I've personally setup two different machines with them using the Wj200. I have begun compiling my notes to publish for others to benefit from.
Clough42 has those two great videos, but i'm unaware of any summary documents for those that don't want to watch a video.
So, here is my draft PDF. Its is missing photos, let me know what else I am missing, looking forward to hearing your suggestions

I finished up installing the CNC Depot RM40C on my new Acorn/Clearpath/Avid system. I am new to ATC and bought the RM40 Turnkey ATC Spindle Package. What is nice about this system is that it has all the pneumatics done in a separate VFD/Pneumatics box. It has two solenoids to control Clamp and Case pressure, which are wired to an air pressure sensor that sends a spindle fault if pressure drops too low. The VFD in this box is the Automation Direct Durapulse GS20.
Since CNCDepot caters to Avid customers, the VFD box connects to my Acorn control box via 14 pin connectors. The whole system works great. The only change I made was to use one of the unassigned wires to send a VFD Reset signal to the Durapulse to clear the spindle fault. That requires cycling the E-stop button.

I have the same setup and below are the parameter settings on the VFD.
A001=01 (Frequency Source)
A002=01 (Run Command Source)
A003=400hz (Base Frequency)
A004=400hz (use the rating on the nameplate)
A061= 400.0hz (use the rating on the nameplate)
A082=220VAC (use rating on name plate)
B012=10 (Amp Rating for Motor)
H003=2.2 (kW for motor)
H004= number of pole (use rating on name plate)
C036= 1(Alarm signal)
The settings above are for the S30 Spindle using the Hitachi WJ200, if using a different spindle these settings may need to be changed.
Hope this helps

Bill

thanks Bill!
are you using the Sensorless Vector Feature of the WJ200?
and looking at the manual H004 is asking for the number of motor poles? page 3-104

H004 is for the number of poles not hZ. A003 & A004 are set according the rated hZ for the motor. My mistake
I noticed in your draft that A062 is set too 83.3. How did you come up with that number?

thanks! i edited your post on H004 and corrected it
have you auto tuned and use SV feature?
i haven't setup a 24K rpm unit myself yet so, i asked gary what he was setting A062 for the 24K units and he said 83.3

i assume that is the Hertz needed to meet the low rpm spec on the 24K motor?

I have an S30c and wanted to setup SV feature. I will have to try this out.

I’m having trouble getting my CNC Depot S30 spindle to respond to speed control from CNC12. M3 will start the spindle but at about 250 hz and will increase when commanded but only to the upper 300 hz range. It does this with a pulsating sound as well. If I switch the frequency source to the pot on the control panel, I get nice a smooth speed increase from 0 to 400hz. I did the spindle bench test and have checked the output at H8 since then and all is good there.
I could adjust the speed at the pot with each tool change since I’m changing tools by hand. However, it sure would be nice to have CNC12 do that automatically.
My spindle is wired as per schematic #S15128.DWG I added a braking resistor as well.
My wj200 is programed as per cnckeith’s auto tune pdf
download/file.php?id=27227
I have auto tuned and I’m using the sensor less vector feature.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

do a factory reset of wj200 parameters and re adjust the ones on the pdf and follow the wj200 auto turn procedure and be sure to set it back to 400 hz when auto tune is done.

I hate to say it but I did do a factory reset and reset the parameters and auto tuned. Maybe its the spindle. Although, it runs fine on the pot.
