Hello all I have been working to set up my vfd for my mill. I have Haung yang 4kW vfd and have configured the following parameters:

Well still having issues. My RPMs aren't correct. They are about 1/4 of what the should be. The motor is rated at 1710 RPMs but the spindle is geared/belted for 3200. I have the spindle configured for 3200 in the controller. Here are my vfd settings:

PD001 - 1 (comm port)
PD002 - 1 (comm port - Source of operating frequency)
PD003 - 60 (Main Frequency)
PD004 - 60 (Base Frequency)
PD005 - 60 (Max Frequency)
PD006 - 2.5 (Intermediate Frequency - Should have no relevance)
PD008 - 220 (Max motor voltage from motor nameplate)
PD009 - 15
PD011 - 000 (Minimum Frequency - Set the lower frequency based on desired minimum RPM)
PD014 - 2 (Acceleration Time)
PD015 - 2 (Deceleration Time)
PD070 - 0 (Analog Input - 0 = 0-10VDC input)
PD072 - 60 (Highest Analog Frequency)
PD073 - 0 (Lowest Analog Frequency)
PD142 - 6.2 (Motor Nameplate current)
PD143 - 4 (# of motor poles)
PD144 - 1710 (Motor Nameplate RPM)
PD176 - 1 (Inverter Frequency Standard)

post a fresh report.zip and a schematic of how you have it wired.
have you seem marty's videos on setup of these units?

max freq is going to limit the motor rpm to whatever it spins at 60 hz. (looks like 1710 rpm by the tag)
if you want to go faster than that you need to increase the max hz value.

do you have a tachometer?
and have you read.

Good morning,
Just getting back in town. I have uploaded a report. As seen in the photos the mill came with an attached VFD that stated 50-3200 RPM. I removed and installed the Huangyang HY04D023B. I attached the only digital user manual I can find online. I have went through the spindle bench test and the following post https://centroidcncforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=1650. I wired the new VFV according to the attached schematic. I have a tachometer to help me fine tune.

Issues:
1st. For some reason (wasn't happening before installing VFD) now when I jog any of the axis in rapid it will cause the Acorn to restart. I must disconnect power to the VFD in order to let the Acorn boot when this happens.

2nd The maximum RPMs for the motor is 1710 but the mill is geared/belt driven to the 3200. However, when I set the hz to 120 max hz the top RPMs is somewhere in the 1600 range. In order to get anywhere near the 3k range I have to increase the hz drastically. Which I know we shouldn't exceed the 2x rating of the motor. I wonder if they were exceeding on the other VFD, I never had it running with it prior to removing.

2nd. Going from high RPMs to stop in 2 seconds causes the VFD to fault out, I have read to install a Braking Resistor to stop this issue. I see in the VFD schematics it lists as optional on page 12 for one. Can someone help me with what I need to install here?

3rd. How do I get the braking feature to work on the VCP? I have no hand brake to loosen/tighten tooling. I did notice that when the machine first starts up the spindle is braked. But after turning on the spindle and again stopping, that it is free.

it sounds like you are saying the machine is geared "up" when in fact it is geared down? or vs verse? can you verify by observing the gears/belts/pulleys

This is the set up. I tried to count but it looks like a 26 tooth on the motor to a 59 on the spindle.

definitely a reduction!
how are you measuring RPM?
