MPG Working in 1x Onlyn <resolved>

Post by RJS100 »

I just converted to CNC12 V5.06. Everything appears to be working well, except the MPG. I works fine with the 1X speed, but when I try 10X or 100X nothing happens. Is there something new regarding this new update that I need to know. Could not find anything in the notes. I have attached a report.

you have a probe input triggered.
use the search feature of the forum and you will find other threads covering this

OK. The MGP works fine when the probe is plugged in. When I unplug it, I can only use the pendant to jog at a slow speed.

I just spent the whole evening trying to troubleshoot this and am missing something :( :( . I believe I have the exact same wizard selections as I did before upgrading to the latest version of CNC12.

I selected the KP-3 for the probe type in the wizard. This automatically sets the correct open/closed states for the inputs. I know I have indicated the correct inputs as when I manually push the probe tip, input 3 probe tripped goes open (green).

The probe detection circuit, input 4 is closed (Green) when the probe is plugged in.

This is exactly how I had previously configured it. Is there some other setting that I am forgetting?

One thing I don't understand is that the image of the manual (see below) shows a different input state when tripped as what I see on the wizard

Very confused.... Richard

The 5.07 betas (latest is rev12) contains a fix for this issue. They can be downloaded here: https://centroidcncforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=67&t=9339
The next non-beta release (5.08) is about to be released in the near future.

Thanks so much. If I am following you correctly, I should download this beta until the final version comes out. Does this mean I need to update all the wizard screens, install the beta, then do it again when the non beta is released?

Follow the Upgrading procedure on the first page of this document: https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... ctions.pdf.
Save a report for your machine, save a pdf of your wizard screens (ctrl+p in the wizard then print to pdf), download and install the beta (the installer will make a backup of your previous configuration just in case). After that you can restore the old report and update the wizard as needed. Then repeat this process for each new version you wish to update to in the future.

Perfect. Thanks. Quick question. The pendant has 4 programmable buttons that save to files that are MPG... If I did not previously save these, did these, did the installer save them somewhere?

The 4 mpg macro files should be in the system folder within cncm I believe

Yes. That is correct. My question was is the install program copies these to a backup folder.

Whenever the installer makes a backup of the existing folder, it simply renames the cncm folder to cncm_backup_.... and everything inside the folder is untouched, so yes those macros will be in the system subfolder of the backup folder, and can simply be copy-pasted into the new cncm\system folder to replace the empty ones that come with the fresh install.
