Help on encoder input voltage - Acorn Mill application

Hello,
I have Acorn controlling my Wabeco, and want to add a spindle encoder to allow rigid tapping.
I am not skilled in electronics and need help to understand what voltage input is available for the encoder.
My current understanding from the schematic is +5V.
I am selectigng an encoder from SICK Germany; there are following electrical interphase possibilities: I am pre-selecting the "A" type.
Question: would "C" be an option for the Acorn board as well ?
(there are many more available ones with "C" than with "A" and "H")
Many thanks for your help!
Lorenzo
