I made the mistake to upgrade to V5 and Lost all my custom settings, including, probe app, macros for the homing etc.

is is possible to revert back?

I understand its my problem for not reading the entire manual. However, I think its better to have the section Upgrading from Previous version in the beginning of the PDF not after the installation. Specially when its an upgrade.

Thank you for the help.

If you renamed the old CNCM and Intercon directories before installing the new version, you just need to rename them back.

If not, and you hsve a current report from 4.82, you can reinstall 4.82 and restore the report. You will probably have to reinstall Swissi's app.

As Tom stated, it's simple if you made a backup or have a recent auto backup in another folder or on another drive.

I 100% agree with you that the section in the 5.0 install instructions titled "Updating From Previous versions of CNC12 for Acorn and AcornSix users:" needs to be on page 1 and NOT on page 7. This should be the very FIRST thing every user is doing when doing an upgrade. You are not the first to not read the entire manual and we all know you wont be the last. :D

Let us know if you need more help.

The CNC12 installer probably renamed your old directory on its own. You just have to identify it, and change it back.

In case you try to upgrade to CNC12 v5 again, the best way to move the ProbeApp is to run the ProbeApp installer again and then copy the file C:\cncm\probing\ProbeApp.cfg from your old installation directory to the new one.

In case you get the message that ProbeApp is already installed when you try to install it again, run a Windows Uninstall of ProbeApp-Setup first and then try again.

It is trivial to revert by simply renaming the backed up (by the installer) cncm directory. Literally in just seconds you can switch between a new install and old install by just renaming the directory. I need to make a video on this one.

General advice for updating.

Don't update unless you need one of the features or bug fixes that is in the new version (See release notes )

If you do decide to update, follow the guidance provided for the updating from previous version instructions.

The installer of the new version does not know that you have customized anything. It's up to you if you customize something to copy over the customizations to the new version.

They're also seems to be a misconception about running the CNC12 installer. Let me try to clarify that the installer is not an automatic updater. It is an installer. It installs a fresh version of CNC12. It's up to you to restore the parameters and CNC control configuration and tool library and any custom macros or custom VCP etc.

We provide instructions and guidance on how to do this.

When you say it deleted your stuff, it did not delete anything. As a matter of fact, it made a full backup of it to save you from yourself.

The installation of version 5.0 is a fresh install. It's up to you to set it up properly to work with your machine.
