The C86ACCP board isn't due for another month.

I saw that I could wire the controller like this:

Do I loose anything to do it that way? If not, it's not worth waiting a month for 2 hours of wiring.

Do yourself a big favor and skip the C86 board, it causes many people nothing but headaches. It's also just another failure point in the system that's simply not needed. You can buy the 4 channel relay board for the HFLB circuit on Amazon for about $7 and have it tomorrow I'm sure. Make sure you also have the 100 ohm, 1/2 watt resistors on hand as well. Easy to wire up and you'll be running in no time. Just my 2¢

i have had great luck with my C86ACCP board, zero problems so far. quite nice to not have to cut the molex connectors off too

ultimately up to you. and also i would expect the wiring difference to be like 30 min tops

I'll have to go in the other direction. Even though I consider the C86ACCP interface board a kludge, as a system builder, not having to design and add an interface terminal board that includes the resistors and a separate relay board to handle the HLFB to alarm circuit, it helps out my customers, most of which are not overly experienced. Toss in the ability to use either wire terminals for customer cut proper length wiring or Molex minifit jr plugs for factory length or custom wires and you have winner.

Most of the difficulty I've seen here trying to implement the C86 is due to 2 reasons. 1) the provided instruction manual is confusing to me. I can only imagine how difficult it would be to understand by those with less experience. 2) Arturo built in too many control options.

Once you dial out all the designers "help" with straight wiring and a jumper, they are easy and straight forward.

Id also motion that the c86 seems good to me. Once i had my molex pinout correct, it was fairly straightforward, and got me up and running quickly

Use the C86ACCP even though I had a bad one, they are the easy way to go. If Centriod would make something similar that was more compact not hanging by the pins.

I did a prototype mockup for an interface board that included the pullup resistors, but the parts for that small quantity and the soldering time, plus th fact that I still had to deal with the multiple HLFB signals made it cost more than the C86 ACCP. So I learned them. They work just fine once you get by the confusing instructions.

I used one of these to replace a hodge-podge of wiring from a previous conversion and am very happy with the ease and end results.

Having used the C86 Boards on about 10 controls I have found them to be a good simple solution. I have used them on ClearPath, Yaskawa , Delta and Yakotec and have had good results. I did have a few problems with early version boards but Arturo took care of the problem replaced the board and I was up and running. They work and speed wiring up. Having wired control before the C86 this is in my opinion a better way to go.
