DC1 homing for 4th axis

Hi
I am trying to sort out the 4th axis on my machine.
Using a DC1 in conjunction with an MPU11/dc3iob configuration.
The motor and encoder on the axis spin fine, I have connected the "zero setting switch" on the 4th axis back to the com and Lim1 connections on the DC1.
The DC1 Manual states:
If limits are required, it will also be necessary in most cases to run the limit switches in parallel to PLC
inputs to provide feedback to the control.
Please can somebody who has this working, explain which terminals on the dc3io I need to connect in parallel.
Also what connections would I use to drive a solenoid air brake on the spindle and the inputs to confirm the brake status ?
Finally, do I need to modify the M92 macro to home the 4th axis or is this already implemented ?
Thanks for any help that can be provided.
