Proximity Switch Wiring
I have attached the information sheet for my specific proximity switch and just wanted to double check I was wiring it right.
Pin 1 connected to the 24v + power supply I am using to power in the INPUT switches 24v on the Acorn.
Pin 2 EMPTY
Pin 3 connected to the 24V - of the power supply I am using to power the INPUT switches 24V on the Acorn.
Pin 4 connects to one of the inputs on the Acorn that I can assign to "HomeAll".
They are NO proximity switches, so I need to connect all the pin1 together, all the pin 3 together, and pin 4 together.
My machine has a slave y motor and its own proximity switch for squaring. So for that limit switch I can connect Pin 1 with the others, pin 3 with the others, but Pin 4 gets its own input to assign to "slavehomeinput".

You wrote that you're connecting all pins 4 together (proximity switch outputs to a single Acorn input). You'll need to monitor the outputs because your data sheet does not show that the proximity sensor outputs are open-collector. When an output is open-collector, it "floats" high until it is pulled low (normally pulled High via a 2.2K to 10K pull-up resistor) . If the output is driven High and driven Low, then the outputs would fight each other when any one of the outputs changed state. Normally, it is standard practice to only allow one connection to any input unless you are absolutely certain that the outputs actually "float" until driven Low.

Thanks for the input. I looked on their site and it seems that the EO type are normally open sinking (what I have). The designation EP is for the push/pull version.

One more question. By reading the instructions it looks like I can set the input to both homeall AND limitall. I just want to confirm that is accurate, that way I can connect my Y+ limit switch on the same input as the others, as well as not have to split the signal from the x sensor because it moves along the gantry and does both the + and - sensing.

I suggest that you use the sensors as home all and set your travel limits. You won't need any other limit sensors or switches. Centroid works substantially different, and better than most, if not all, you may have used before.

I couldn’t agree more, use 3 switches for x, y and z home and set the software travel limits in the wizard. It works perfect with a lot less wiring and hassles and it frees up valuable inputs.

I am using clearpath servos, so even if it did physically hit the gantry bump stop, it should throw a fault within a second or so and shut it down. right?

Your ClearPath motors will alarm out before they lose enough position to hit a stop.
In the very unlikely case your scenario did happen, the alarm would trigger in about 1/5 second

Cool. Well I got them all wired up and they aren't working. I hooked pin 1 (top position) to the 24v+ of the power supply, pin 3 (bottom position) to the 24v-, and pin 4 (right position) to input 1. I waved a metal pair of pliers over them and could not get any of them to switch input 1 or even turn on the light on the side of the sensor. I unhooked it all and hooked up just one sensor, and it still isn't working.
