I am considering an Acorn controller for my CNC Router, It uses geckodrive G202 drivers. I don't see a schematic for the Gecko G202, closest I see is S14977-ACORN_rev4_GECKO_G201_STEPPER_DRIVE, it looks the same, but concerned if the geckodrive g202 is compatible. Even though the wiring looks the same.

I think it is hooked up the same as the 201 or 203 drives. You will need a db25 breakout card. do not use the screw terminals as they put out to much power and will blow the pull up resister along with the little green fuse. If this happens you will have to get an RMA from Gecko to have them fixed.

I am assuming don't use screw terminals on the Acorn Controller, but use a DB25 breakout card and use the screw terminals on the breakout card. Thanks

I've tested some older G202 drives that I still had in my "spare parts" cabinet. They worked fine with the Acorn via the DB25 connector. Keep in mind that the G202 drive uses a +5VDC "common" signal on terminal 10, so attach +5VC to that terminal and then configure the Acorn so that it pulls step signals to GND. When the Acorn signal goes LOW, current passes through the G202's internal opto-coupler. When the Acorn signal goes HIGH, no current passes through the G202's opto-coupler.

(Keep in mind that Leadshine type drives rated for the same current cost 1/3rd as much or less. I put my G202s and G203v drives back in the "spare parts" cabinet and bought some DM542 drives. They match the NEMA 23 motors that I have. They run much cooler and have a wide variety of step-division options.)

Can this be done in the Wizard or does one need to go into the Config Area?

In Wizard, go to Configuration, and then select/change the value of Direction Reversal.

I've wired my Taig mill's stepper DM542 drivers with common HIGH and common LOW. I used the Direction Reversal parameter so that either common HIGH or common LOW worked as expected.
