My limit switches are NC and when they hit the physical stop, they open. So unlike the schematic I only have 1 limit switch per axis, how do I connect that to the AllIn1DC and are there software settings that need to change also?

Connect the limit switchs you have to the proper inputs, and either jumper the unused inputs to ground, or defeat them using the dip switches on the board.

As Tom suggested. Hardwire the limit switch input to COM or using the limit defeat dipswitch works.
But, if I were you, I would add the limit switches to each end of the travels for All in One Servo control as soon as you could if it is feasible.
What kind of machine is it?

It’s a Willis 10x50 knee style Bridgeport look a like. It had Anilam 1400 controller on it. There is a physical stop at each end of the travel. So if the limit switch is open it’s at the end of your travel, you just don’t know what end? That’s fine isn’t it?

The servo controllers from Centroid have inputs for limits at both ends of travel for three axis. When one is tripped the controls prevent further movenent IN THAT DIRECTION. If you wire the same switch to both inputs, you would no longer be able to move that axis in either direction under power.

Seriously, you have a $2K controller, another $2K or more in motors and drives, and a chunk of iron worth at least as much, and your complaining about the cost of a $10 switch? If you just have to run with only one switch, pick which end you want to home to and wire the switch for that. Then jumper the opposite limit input for that axis to ground.

Soft limits SHOULD then protect you from crashing on the end without a switch, but you loose the hardware backup.

I think Tom may have been exaggerating a little: any switch you can consistently buy for $10, you might not want on your machine.

If this is a Bridgeport look a like and you have a switch at each end of travel. You can easily make them into independent limit switches as long as you can wire them for normally closed.

You are right Marc; There seemed to be a rash of posts lately asking how to use a single limit switch and I overreacted a little. While you "could" find something workable on eBay for $10, I personally have the Euchners on 4 of my machines. They are robust, repeatable, and once installed NEVER need attantion again.
