Looking for guidance

Hi there again.
I've been away for a while. Last winter I had been working on building a mechmate from scratch. I had the base frame built and had begun getting the controls setup ( just desktop as Marty and others recommended). I had purchased DMM servos and an acorn controller.

Well I stumbled across an old multicam cnc pro up for auction near me. 8x12'. It's a beast for sure but so was mechmate.

What I'm wondering is if at this point would it be easier to upgrade the controls on this machine with more modern controls.
Either way I am definitely biting off more than I can chew!

Thanks again for all your help.

If I were thinking of converting a large machine, I would make a list of all things that I wanted the Acorn to control. If the machine had servo motors, I would check whether the servos were compatible with the Acorn. If the machine had homing switches or sensors and limit switches or sensors, I could check their compatibility with the Acorn. I would do the same for vacuum hold down and dust collection.

I don't see any problem if you are willing to replace anything that is not compatible or build the proper interface to make everything compatible.
