Motors not turning

Upgrading new 4 axis cnc Router old setup died ,Replaced board with Acorn free version. Wired w gheco 203v drivers, 48 volt ps,running 4 960 oz/in stepper motors, dual motors x-axis. Tried to run setup w and w/o siter brd PMDX 134 with x-axis not connected ,no motor s running on y axis or z axis. Also ran Ping test for both computer(supplied by Centroid) and acorn. Report file attached

Do you mean to say that you are able to move the X axis motor (or motors?) through the CNC12 software and Acorn board?

What is a "siter brd"?

The PMDX-134 is not needed with an Acorn. The Acorn controls all signals to the motors. I've used Gecko G203v drivers with my Acorn. I used a DB-25 breakout board to make wiring easy. I did NOT use the Centroid schematic for the G203v. That schematic shows the G203v connected to the screw terminals. I connected DB-25 pin 2 to Step, DB-25 pin 3 to Direction, and DB-25 pin 18 to Common. (Pins 18-25 are all connected to GND, so any of those pins can be used as Common.) I did NOT connect the G203v's Disable pin. If the Disable is connected, the drive will disable the motor. Power, Stepper motor connections, and a current set resistor were all wired according to the G203v manual from Geckodrive.

It's been a while since I tested the G203v, so I don't remember whether I had to invert the signals in the Wizard, or whether I used the normal (non-inverted) setting. In any case, the stepper worked as expected

Richard I only used PMDX 134 to help save wirering at first , but then went to wire from screw terminals direct to each driver . Still no motor turning, even though dros running on cnc12. I should say that I started this a begining of summer then had to go in for major surgery a month ago with 2 month recovery needed I'm only just starting to get back on my feet. I can only be on feet for about 1 hour a day. All you say about driver disable is correct its not needed I've built 2 other controllers without using it. Tomorow I will go back and rewire motors, I also upgraded to pro version and need to get that done to see if moters finaly turn with motor pairing being used for x axis gantry.I'll post what happens thanks Richard.

cnckeith I did attach report but i'm 68 year old tradesman retired Did I do that report correctly ? I'm not the best with computers still learning a lot about subject. my strong point is fabbing machines. Electronics is poor at best but starting to get it .Thanks Keith

Get a DB25 breakout board from Amazon and try and connect them to it. That is what Richard is referring to above with his connections.

Here are three photos that show how easy it is to connect a G203V to the Acorn. The top photo shows the G203v and its connections. Starting from the Power Ground connection, White/Blue=Power Ground, Blue= +24VDC, Black=Motor Phase-A, Yellow=Motor /Phase-A, Red=Motor Phase-B, White=Motor /Phase-B, Disable=NOT CONNECTED, Green=Direction, Yellow=Step, Black=Ground, Current limiting resistor, other end of Current limiting resistor.

The DB-25 photo shows Yellow=Pin 2 (Step), Green=Pin 3 (Direction, and Black=Pin 25 (Ground).

The bottom photo shows the G203v, DIN rail mounted terminal blocks for easy configuration, and an Oriental Motors PK268-2AA stepper.

In Wizard, I set the steps to 100,000, pulses per revolution to 2,000 to match the G203v. I used the virtual control panel to test the G203v and motor. It worked, including direction reversal.

(Sorry about all of the shadows. I hope that you can tell the difference between the wires and the shadows. PLEASE be aware that there is NO wire connected to the G203v's disable input. What looks like a black wire is a shadow.)
