X-axis reversed in one direction

I have a gantry machine that was correct for 1 year. Suddenly when I click the x- jog on the control panel it goes to the right, not the left. When I click x+ the router goes to the right as it suppose to. I have restarted my computer, used the Wizard to reverse the x-direction, restarted Acorn board, checked the settings in setup/configure/machine settings, restored reports that proceeded the change in the x-axis and many other attempts. I have not touched any of the Acorn or other controller hardware. Nothing has worked. I have attached the present report file if you might need it. Help!

You have an electronic problem (perhaps a bad connection) in the DIR signal wired from the Acorn to the drive.
Not a software issue at all.

Do you have a multi-meter? The direction signal will change (High to Low, Low to High) each time you change the direction of the motor. Use the virtual arrows on the Virtual Control Panel to change direction. Check the direction signal's level. (The DB-25 uses +/- 5VDC. The screw connectors usually use +/- 24VDC.) If the signal changes, but the motor does not change direction, then check the continuity of the conductor WITH THE POWER OFF. Use the resistance setting on the meter. The reading should be very close to zero to indicate polarity. If the signal changes and the conductor shows conductivity, then you might have a faulty motor. Check for a faulty motor by swapping motors between the axes.

Thanks! I will make these tests and get back to the message board.
