home built plasma table with centroid acorn pro

currently running x axis test and pairing without the gantry being attached. only the two side arms with motors.
one is axis 1 the other is slave. before pairing, both sides moved in the negative direction and homed off of the home switches correctly.
when trying to pair them, the motors moved in the positive direction, even though the home switches are in the minus direction. the macro ran correctly with the m105 command being sent correctly. What would cause it to run in the wrong direction if the settings are set to run homing in the minus direction?

Can you show a picture of your machine and mark the position from where you are operating it? In CNC definition, the X axis moves from left to right from the operators position and the Y axis goes from front to back. You mentioned that the gantry arms are on the side and that would mean the gantry arms are moving along the Y axis not the X axis. If you want the gantry arms to move along the X axis, then the arms would be in front and back and should move from left to right from the position you are operating the machine.

We define the x axis as the long travel in this case. its all about how you look at your machine .

Exactly and that can change which direction is plus and which is minus.

If you want any advise you need to provide more information and follow the post from Tom above.

In the OP's defense, he did state pretty clearly that he had two servos moving in the expected direction when homing, and said that when he enabled pairing (and, we are to understand, changed nothing else) found that these servos now wanted to move the opposite direction when homing. He is not asking for advice figuring out which axis is X and which is Y, or figuring out which direction is plus and which direction is minus.

However, the first place I would look for an explanation of the issue would be in the cncm.hom macro. That would be found in the Report files.

Then I would look to see what values he has in the Machine Configuration -> Motor Parameters table. That would also be shown in the Report files.

The original poster needs to understand that we can not "SEE" what he "SEES"
We are making assumptions based on what he posted.

If he follows the post that Tom pointed to, he would give us the information that will allow us to better give him suggestions.
I AM SUPER HAPPY TO HELP ANYONE THAT WILL TAKE THE TIME TO PROVIDE THE INFORMATION REQUESTED. My time sitting in front of the computer is as valuable as anyone else's. But I will not second guess based on vague information provided.

Kind of like going to the Doctor and saying "I'm sick"....and the the doctor having to ask a bunch of questions like "Where does it hurt?"

If nothing else, THE NUMBER 1 CARDINAL RULE when asking for help is to POST A FRESH REPORT!

F7 Create Report

The report contains all the information about the machine, parameters, how everything is configured, what version of CNC12 is being run, error logs etc. If a user will take the time to post the report, usually I will take the time to load it on my bench test rig and take a look at it and post screen shots of suggestions that might help.
