Acorn CNC12 v4.50 Wizard
Hi guys
Iam new to this forum an to centriod I have CNC12 lathe v4.50 free version and Iam having trouble trying to modify the axis drive type , iam using a TB6600 stepper drivers and it is not in the listing under axis drive type. I dont know how to modify similar one or even custom write, it doesn't seem to allow me to do it.Thanks in advange

for those drives you need to use the DB25 port. Purchase a DB25 male breakout board from Amazon or somewhere else.
Just use the BENCHTEST DB25 drive, LOAD it at the bottom of the page, write the settings when you are done.
Step/Dir signals are the same. No need to look for the "perfect" drive type.

Hi Marty,
Mate thanks for that i have got my one of that connectors. So do i just leave that bench test ' DB25'lrre drive and do all my axis configuration to it and just use it as my drive type ? Thanks once again

Re: Acorn CNC12 v4.50 Wizard
Hi Marty
Iam trying to run the Acorn on my Emco compact 5 cnc lathe , using the original stepper motors and spindle motor with Tb6600 stepper drivers. Iam struggling to get the stepper motors to drive properly.
Do you think is it possiable to drive the stock stepper motor ? Is there a video or write up about using the stock hardware of the Emco compact 5 lathe with Acorn.
Thanks
Farrel

Re: Acorn CNC12 v4.50 Wizard
I always replace the motor and pulley. Same tooth count, but I use a narrower pulley than stock and stronger belt than the original rubber belt. So far no issues. I also use better closed loop hybrid steppers. The ballscrew driven machine deserves them in my opinion. I don't and never have used the inexpensive TB6600 series based drives.khancnc wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2020 8:10 am Hi Marty

Thanks Marty
So maybe the stepper motor and driver like you have mentioned in the parts list of your post about "New build Emco pc5"
Farrel

Re: Acorn CNC12 v4.50 Wizard
It's more motor than is needed but they work fine.
All depends on your budget and what you can get.
