I’m having difficulty getting my stepper drivers to work. I only have one connected at the moment for testing. And I always get a drive fault in cnc12.

The drives are from a kit I purchased on amazon. So far I’ve tried the advice on another thread that noted this same driver. So I’m running pulse and direction wires with With our without out enable.

The drive powers up with no errors but when I attempt to move the motor using the axis button on screen it errors out after the specified fault delay. (I set it to 10 seconds to see if the motor actually moves and it does). But it errors out every time without fail.

Photos attached of the drive and it’s connections to acorn. One of the photos shows a red light for the axis and the other shows green so we get a before and after image of it running before the fault.

You don't have things hooked up correctly.
You should use the DB25, using a DB25 male breakout board. Can be had from Amzon

Short of that.
Using the +5VDC output of your CENTROID Supplied Power supply
Connect it to +PUL and +DIR of the drive
Then Connect -PUL to Acorn STP header terminal
Connect -DIR to Acorn DIR header terminal

Do not connect enable at this time. When you power up the drive is the axis motor rotor locked? It should be.

Thank you for chiming in.

I have the db25 breakout board on standby but haven’t tried it yet since I’m short on space. So I was hoping to use the screws.

Isn’t it hooked up as you specified? Zooming in on the pictures you can see the white wire is connected to st1 on acorn and pls- on the drive unit. The yellow is connected to dr1 on acorn and dir- on the drive.

Also as it is, when I power everything up the motor is powered and won’t turn by hand.

I don't see +5vdc to your +dir line on the drive. They are not jumpered internally

I have a jumper on there. It’s little but zooming in on the pic you can see it.

Under the DB25 tab in the Wizard, are you set for Header or DB25?
Should be header.

Also remove the ALM wires from Acorn for now as well...

I’ll check that out when I get back to my shop. If I remember, the alarm comes on the motor drive when it’s not connected to acorn. But I’ll check that out too when I get back to the shop. I really appreciate your input!

ALM and ENA should not need to be connected. Your drive should NOT show any alarm if its in a ready state.
