Spindle does not work fully from acorn outputs

Post by Oldboy79 »

Hello,
I have another problem now! I am trying to setup my spindle (2.2Kw 400Hz) and Huanang VFD to run from the acorn board outputs. Used MIDI to input M03 S10,00, the VFD operator panel displayed just over 10,000rpm, acorn info screen displayed spindle +10,000rpm A. Midi again m05, spindle deacc to zero over 5sec Tried m04 in Midi nothing happened!! acorn screen displayed spindle - 10,000 A. Although I have done it several times before I setup the VFD to run from it's own internal 10v supply 2 manual switches and a 10K 5 turn pot to make sure it was still working properly, it was perfect. The analog voltage from the acorn board at 10,000 rpm was 4.36v calculated value would be 4.16v close enough for now.

I am away from home but wanted to respond.
First, on that early Acorn board you should not be connecting the VFD directly to its outputs. You shouldbeusing an NPN relay board to provide dry contacts for your VFD.

If you search Huan Yang in the search box you will find much information on connecting this drive.
My "notes" on the Huan Yang HY VFD attached. Hopefully will help
DO make sure you have VI jumpered on the drive and you have your inputs properly programmed.
