My control has started locking up when I Cancel or Stop a program in progress.
After the machine stops the "ESC" button will not work for 20-30 sec.
302 code on screen
Can left click on mouse and it will go into the thinking mode
Can jog all axis but many times the DRO will not change during the moves until the lock up ends then the DRO will correct its self

Do you still have adequate space on your hard drive?

Have you made (or has Windows made, without your knowledge) any changes to the Windows configuration lately?

It sounds like CNC11 is getting hung up during its wrap-up tasks at the end of the job, which include updating several files on the hard drive.

You might try calling up the Task Manager to see if you can tell what processes are busy accessing various resources.

This control is not nor has been connected to the internet
The only interaction with the outside world in through a USB thumb drive when I transfer files.

I purchased this machine used and it has a lot of part files I dont use so maybe I need to delete some?

Do you know how to use Windows File Explorer to see how large the hard drive is, and how much free space it has?

It does not hurt to clean up the part program directories, but it is unlikely that you (or any previous owner) has filled up tens of gigabytes with CNC and Intercon program files.

I checked the hard drive space it says 19.7 GB Free of 37 GB

As soon as I stop the program its locked up and the Task Manager says CNC11 NOT RESPONDING
After close to a minute its says CNC 11 RUNNING and its unlocked

Okay, so the hard drive is not full. The 40GB capacity suggests it may be one of the old OCZ SSHD's, which have a spotty record for long-term reliability.

While this may or may not fix your problem, you might look at replacing the SSHD with a newer Samsung or Intel model. Of course, you would either need to mirror the old drive to it, or format the drive; install Windows; install CNC11; and restore your Report and program files. Not rocket science, but not a trivial task if you have not done any of those things before.

Maybe I could pull the hard drive and take it to a computer guru and have them transfer data?
Any advantage to updating to 12 in this process?

I was told this control was updated/replaced around 2010 as the mill is early 90s

Computers have come a long way since 2010. I paid $300 for my Intel i7 with a terrabyte of storage. I can run the mill, search the web for unit conversions and work the next job on Autocad Inventor...all at the same time and the mill doesn't skip a beat.

UPDATE!
A few months ago I installed a DC1 and to get things up and running I ran all the wiring through the open cabinet door

A few weeks ago I punched holes and ran the wires through the cabinet wall for proper installation
This is about the time the glitches started
I have checked and rechecked the wires and all are good, no cuts, no pinches, wire are in the same basic area
When cabinet door is closed I have problems but when open all is fine?
Tried open and closed several times and the same results

I purchased this machine used and the computer was/is mounted on the door.
Nothing touches when door is closed but it does some what line up

The DC1 is effecting the computer due to its close proximity?
Does this make sense?
