Got the KP-3 a while ago (wiring has the flipper circuit board) but just got it wired up. I cut off the flipper circuit and wired as per the latest wiring diagram.
The probe does work but the LED never comes on. How does that LED get power? Is there a simple way to test the LED itself?
Thanks

skipper616,
why do you have a ToolTouchOffDetect configured on Input 6 but don't have a ToolTouchOffTrigger?
Can you post a picture that shows how Red, Black and Shield are connected to your Acorn board?

Re: KP-3 LED does not light up
Hi Swissi,
The Tool Touch and KP-3 probe are both using Input 7 as the triggered input (each has it's own Detect input, 4 for the KP-3 and 6 for Tool touch). Since there is no option in the Wizard for picking shared trigger, I just picked one. Both devices are NC and open on trigger.
The Tool Touch and KP-3 does work when triggered independently (don't plan on using both as the exact same time).
The KP-3 wiring is done per S15035.pdf from Centroid, basically,
3.5mm TIP (red wire) is connected to Input 4 for probe detect
RING (black wire) is connected to Input 7 for probe triggered
Shield (bare wire) is connected to Acorn COM

Re: KP-3 LED does not light up
skipper616,
what do you want to do with your Tool Touch Off Plate? There's no option for a shared trigger input because it's not a supported option.
If you have no ToolTouchOffTriggered Input, CNC12 would not know that you have a Tool Touch Off plate as the ToolTouchOffDetect alone does not signal CNC12 that you have a TT.
The way you have it configured right now doesn't really give you TT capability and if you want to use your TT as a TP you could wire them both in series to the same Trip and Detect Inputs.
If you want to use the TT with TT capabilities it would need it's own Trigger and Detect Input but if you are short on Inputs and you want to keep the TT permanently attached you don't really need the ToolTouchOffDetect Input. Just keep in mind that when you do detach the TT from your system, CNC12 will see a TT triggered situation and will block jogging.
All that said it looks like you have the KP-3 properly connected so all I can think off is that the LED is broken. I would contact Centroid if I were you.

Re: KP-3 LED does not light up
the led is powered by the 24 vdc connection to the Acorn, if you don't have this wired in H4 the LED will not light up.skipper616 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 9:34 pm

Re: KP-3 LED does not light up
I am pretty sure that if he did not have 24V wired to H4 (or H1), then neither the probe inputs, nor any of his other inputs, would work.

Re: KP-3 LED does not light up
The H4 connection definitely has 24v as it's powering all the inputs (as noted by cncsnw).
So this means the LED is either dead or wired in backwards. No big deal. Thanks for everyone's input.
