Hi All
Just wondering , has anybody here done a Denford Novamill - Acorn retrofit
I picked up one of these little mills with ATC a while ago and finally have the time to try and get it running.
I already have an acorn board that i am planning to use to replace the original controller but other than this and a few new stepper drives i'm hoping to use the majority of the original hardware ie: DC spindle control board , power supplies etc.
I'm slowly figuring out the original wiring etc but it would be great to pick someones brains who has done this all already !

Post pictures, brands, model numbers and links to manuals if you can find them.
I personally would remove all the axis motors and drives, replace them with closed loop hybrid steppers or servos. No worry about position loss.
Also, what kind of spindle motor? 3 phase AC? DC? PIcture of nameplate? Sounds like a nice project.
ATC is likely controllable. You will need to know exactly how it functions, what drives the tool changer etc. Maybe go to YouTube and find your model running and showing tool changes.
Good luck with the project. Document your progress here.
